Powered by the MusicStation platform, BBM™ Music went live in the USA, UK, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Italy and Australia at the end of 2011, with monthly subscriptions costing USD$4.99. Unique in its social aspect, BBM™ Music is built on the concept of viral music discovery.
Each user first selects 50 of their favourite songs. These are then shared with the members of their BBM™ Music community, simultaneously allowing the user access to the favourite songs of every member within their community.
Music made social
The result is music made social. Users share and discover music with their friends, creating a music library that is alive – continually evolving and growing as new friends join. Users can comment on their friends’ songs and playlists, create multiple playlists from music within their friends’ profiles, and even see which friend contributed each song while it plays.
The service also features a chronological view of community updates, including who added new friends, which songs were added or removed, the playlists that were created, and what comments their BBM™ Music friends made.
